Are you hoping or planning for 2020 to be the year that you make some changes in your life? Are you right now in the trenches of keeping up with your 2020 resolutions? Maybe you didn’t quite hop on the resolution train yet, but you’re still hoping to make some positive changes for this year.
Whatever your situation, all of us here at The FieldHouse Restaurant and Bar are cheering you on! Here are a few ideas for a healthier and happier 2020.
Set Smaller, Attainable Goals
One of the biggest reasons new year’s resolutions don’t “stick” is that people shoot way too high. They pledge to lose 50 or 100 pounds. People who currently can’t run an entire mile without stopping commit to running a sub-six-minute mile by year’s end or completing a half marathon in July.
These big, audacious goals are hardly attainable. Goals like these set you up for failure. Instead, set smaller, incremental goals that are attainable, like losing 3-5 pounds a month. Success with small goals will push you further.
Set Clear, Measurable Goals
Another pitfall is setting goals that are vague or unmeasurable. “Becoming a better person” is a terrible goal, because how will you know that you’ve met it? Same with “go to the gym more.”
Instead, lay out how you want to become a better person and what that would look like. Set a goal of going to the gym 2 or 3 days a week.
Make Good Restaurant Choices
Last, make good restaurant choices. Meal prep is great, but you’re going to have to eat out at some point. Don’t fall in the fast food trap. Visit a restaurant that cooks real food like we do at The FieldHouse Restaurant and Bar. Check out our numerous healthful options and keep making progress toward your goals.
